World Spins Madly On.
A WEE BIT OF ME
BY: MyLeighAshley
{one} have you ever crawled through a window?
Yes. Lock outs, rooftops, sneak ins. It has all been done.
{two} what’s one subject that you wish you knew more about?
Politics, though I’m slowly learning.
{three} who’s your favorite villain?
How about Frankenstein, the poor guy.
{four} have you ever hit a jackpot on a slot machine?
The question should be, have you ever played a slot machine?
{five} what is your favorite disney movie?
Lucky for you, I have given this topic an excessive amount of thought.
My ultimate favorite is The Little Mermaid. That is closely followed by Aladdin, The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast and Toy Story.
{six} if the whole world were listening, what would you say?
Stop with the judging! Just stop!
{seven} if you could choose one song to describe you or your life, what would it be?
{eight} your desk: messy or organized?
Organized.
{nine} have you ever had surgery?
I had my adenoids removed as a wee child. It was a necessary maneuver in order to combat an uneasy snore and a slight nasal problem. Ok, a major nasal problem.
{ten} if you could have any animal as a pet, what would you have?
A teacup pig. Shutup. Too cute.

It's Been a While.
A Wee Bit of Me
{one} grilled or fried?
Either.

It's happening.
Alas, another "About Me" addition to be added to Emmy's digital scrapbook:
A Wee Bit of Me
{one} what is your happiest childhood memory?
One of my happiest recurring childhood memories is that of my family and I visiting my grandma and grandpa's house every December. A huge Hermes reunion! With 20+ grandchildren and around 12 aunts and uncles, when my family gets together words cannot describe the occurrences that are bound to take place. Fortunately, the tradition continues to this day, and I can only hope that it still plays a prominent role in my future.
I also have one single memory that I will never forget. I was around 7-years-old. I walked into my kitchen from the bonus room to find my mom and dad kissing and immersed in the other's arms.
EWWWWW! is what I said.
EWWWWW! is what I said.
Oh, Emmy, you naive child you.
I also really loved any happening that involved my old neighborhood crew. Any holidays, cook outs, hide and seek games, etc.

{two} what is your middle name?
Ruth.
{three} what's the habit you're most proud of breaking?
When I was in 8th grade I gave up soda/pop/Coke (however you prefer) for Lent. In the past I drank Coke as if it were my oxygen. Today I hardly ever indulge in the soft drink, and it's fantastic!
{four} what do you order when you order chinese food?
I love any type of that sort of chicken, sesame or orange and what not. Also, egg rolls and fried rice.
{five} what's the best bargain you've ever found at a garage sale or thrift store?
Records for under a buck are always welcomed and cherished.
{six} what's the best costume you've ever worn?
Last Halloween I was a "Snuggie Model." The costume came about in an unusual, last minute sort of manner.
It was Halloween day and I was failing miserably on the costume front. As I was casually shopping at the nearby grocery I came across a Snuggie display. Aha! What a great excuse to finally buy one of these things! It was great! I was able to use my arms to drink and play games WHILE staying warm and cozy at the exact same time!

Genius.
{seven} who's your favorite game show host?
I am not a huge game show watcher, but I do love me some Price is Right.
So Bob Barker.
{eight} what's your favorite breakfast food?
French toast. Or eggs. Sausage. Toast with butter and jelly. And cinnamon rolls. And breakfast burritos. And I love breakfast.
{nine} what's your least favorite word?
Flesh. alsdkjf.
{ten} describe something that happened to you for which you have no explanation.
When I was 17 my best friend, dad, and I went to San Francisco. It was my friend and I's first trip to California and we had an absolute blast. On our way back, as we were hailing a cab to the airport from our hotel, a little boy that couldn't have been older than six walked up to me and gave me a rose. He smiled and ran shyly back to his parents. I looked at his parents in pleasant confusion. His mother simply shrugged and said, "He just wanted to give it to you."
It made my day!

You used to have all the answers.
A Wee Bit of Me
{one} have you ever won a trophy? if yes, for what?
In the past I won all sorts of trophies for sports and such- basketball, soccer, and softball.
{two} what was your favorite subject in school?
My photojournalism courses were fantastic. And I also loved my Online Journalism course. And English/Reading. Anything that is hands on.
{three} what time do you get up in the morning?
This depends. When I do not have to work I try to wake up between 9:30 and 10.
{four} if you could open your own business, what would it be?
I would love to open a photography business, just my camera and I.
{five} if you could spend the evening with one rock star/band, who would it be?
um, BOB DYLAN. I'd pick his brain about all sorts of things. And then make him write a song about me. Duh.
{six} what sitcom character reminds you of you?
Probably Rory Gilmore from the Gilmore Girls- she is wholesome and smart, but has an edge and listens to great music. I've also been told by a few people that I resemble Lauren Graham.
{seven} what are the three most important things to you?
family, good character, faith
{eight} chips or popcorn?
CHIPS. I've never been a huge fan of popcorn.
{nine} have you ever ordered anything from an infomercial?
I've ordered the Ab Lounge. And it's awesome. Infomercials are incredibly convincing at three in the morning. I've come unmanageably close to also ordering the Magic Bullet and the ShamWOW.
{ten} what is one thing that you are grateful for today?
This has been such a fantastic day! My mom got called for a job interview, I HAD a job interview, and my little brother got his driving license! Tonight we also all went out to eat at a restaurant and got along, which is a feat. I am so thankful for today!

So Contagious.
A Wee Bit of Me
by: MyLeighAshley
{one} what was your first pet and how did you come up with its name?
My first pet ever was a black lab named Maggie. However, since I was a wee lass at the time I was not involved with the name choosing process. Nonetheless, I did choose the names for my two goldfish that were won at a town festival: Goldie and Goldieblack (the latter of the two had black polka dots).
Creativity was one of my stronger assets.
{two} do you like your ice crushed or cubed?
Cubed. Although crushed ice is easier to munch when the liquid at hand has inevitably run dry, the time it takes to process and filter to the cup is entirely too long and wares my patience thin.
{three} do you believe in love at first sight?
I believe in "attracted to" at first sight. Love is just more complicated than that.
{four} do you have any nicknames?
Not really. But I'm not bitter. Emmy in itself is a nickname, after all.
{five} what movie do you never get tired of watching?
Grease or You've Got Mail.
{six} how do you like your eggs cooked?
Scrambled with cheese. I've also recently jumped on the fried over easy bandwagon.
{seven} are you named after anyone in particular?
Emmy Lou Harris.
There is actually only a grain of truth to this. However, as my brother's name is Dylan (after Bob), I sense a loose theme.
{eight} what are three things that you would like to do that you haven't done yet?
I'd like to go on a hot air balloon ride, travel to a foreign country with my boyfriend/husband, and I would like to get married/start a family.
{nine} what one thing always brightens your mood?
Reassurance.
{ten} what five things will you always find in your purse?
Cell phone, wallet, camera, chap stick, keys.

Go!
{one} what was your favorite birthday gift?
Last year my boyfriend bought me a record player. That is pretty hard to beat.
{two} have you ever been cow-tipping or snipe-hunting?
I haven't. AND I'm from Tennessee. (silly stereotypes)
{three} what’s the strangest talent you have?
I don't really have any, truly. Ok ok I do have one, but it might offend you. Some people simply do not speak so freely about bodily functions as I, and I respect that.
{four} what are your favorite kind of chips?
I love Ruffles with French Onion Dip. Mmmmmm. Or Cheetos.
{five} do you know any tongue twisters?
I know the same tongue twisters that everyone else knows- the one about the woodchuck, Sally's seashells, and Peter Piper and his peppers.
{six} what was the last movie you saw in a theater?
My friend and I went to see The Switch on a whim (we were really bored). Ehh, it was alright.
{seven} do you collect anything?
Vinyl. And recently I have wanted to create a really solid DVD Collection, which is going really well (if I do say so myself).
{eight} what is something you wish you were better at?
Relating with my mom.
{nine} what’s the worst habit you have?
Eating when I'm bored. Or procrastination.
"Oh yeah, I'll start that on Monday..."
{ten} when you wake up, what is the first thing you think?
"No."

Don't Make ME a Target.
My blog has taken a turn.
What was once an outlet to practice my writing has transformed itself (with me to blame I suppose) into a form of personal expression- a type of internet journal in a sense. But then again, not really.
Obviously, there are distinct differences between this and a personal, tangible journal. I am very careful, for example, about what I post on the internet. One never knows who is reading. At times, certain details of my life are either sugar coated or left out completely. And that is fine with me.
Obviously, there are distinct differences between this and a personal, tangible journal. I am very careful, for example, about what I post on the internet. One never knows who is reading. At times, certain details of my life are either sugar coated or left out completely. And that is fine with me.
My journals, on the other hand, contain my real life along with truth and deep emotions- it's a place where I attempt to make sense of the things (good or bad) that occur in my life.
"Vague" is not a word that exists in such a realm.
Therefore, if you think you've got me all figured out through this here blog then, well, you don't.
Thus, I have finally been able to pinpoint as to what I consider my blog. Rather than a journal, my blog has become, in a way, a type of time capsule. Years from now, I can return to this outlet and be reminded of the happenings that took place during the years 2010 and so forth. And that is very cool.
But I wonder, would I remember what I was like? Anecdotes about my personality during said time period?
For a while now I have been thinking about writing a really kick butt "About Me" post with the purpose of harboring my current state of being on this day in this month of this year. Needless to say, I have yet to get around to doing so.
That is why when I found this blog through a new follower, I became fairly excited.
"myleighashley" has a weekly theme called:

What a perfect way to finally delve into what I've been longing to do for such a time. Each week is a different 10 question survey that consists of a variety of inquiries- tidbits of information that I would have never thought to share about myself through my own "About Me" post.
I can't wait to come back to this some years from now and say aloud, "What on earth was I thinking?"
Here it goes (Week 1):
{one} who’s the funniest person you know?
Definitely my best friend, Lindsey. Her storytelling is truly an art and can leave even the most stoic of persons with stomach cramps from laughing so hard.
{two} were you a michael jackson fan?
I really loved the Jackson 5. It wasn't until after Michael died that I learned more of his later stuff aside, of course, from the typical tracks that ran along the lines of "Billie Jean" or "Thriller."
{three} what was your favorite book as a child?
I was in 6th grade when I started reading Harry Potter. Does that count as a child? Does the fact that I am STILL in love with the series at age 21 discredit the novels as being a childhood favorite?
As a wee lass, The Giving Tree was always one that I couldn't pass up. Loved it.
As a wee lass, The Giving Tree was always one that I couldn't pass up. Loved it.
{four} what’s the most delicious meal you’ve ever eaten?
I really really really love food.
When I traveled to Spain I was introduced to "tortilla." It was a potato and egg dish, and I think that I could have eaten it everyday of the trip. I tried to recreate it afterward- no comment.
{five} if you could eliminate one thing you do each day in the bathroom so you never had to do it again, what would it be?
I loathe putting lotion on my legs. I ALWAYS pour too much into my hands and thus, spend an exceedingly long time rubbing it all in.
{six} if you could ask barak obama one question, what would it be?
How do you deal with all of the intense public scrutiny?
{seven} what’s the best place near you to get a drink?
What a perfect time to ask me this- AFTER I move away from Knoxville (to which my answer would have been Sassy Ann's!!). Currently, my place of employment (The Mellow Mushroom) would be the best. 30+ beers on draft in addition to countless bottles of beers that I guarantee you've never heard of.
{eight} what kind of music can you just not stand to listen to?
I cannot STAND country music. Well, recent country music that is.
In the words of my dad, "There is country (weak), and then there is COUNTRY (strong- as in timeless artists such as Johnny Cash, The Carter Family, Townes Van Zandt, Steve Earle and the like)."
{nine} who and when was your first kiss?
I was 15 before I got my first real kiss. I'm probably lame. Oh well.
It was with my first boyfriend, which turned into a 3 year off and on relationship.
{ten} what 3 things do you think will become obsolete in the next ten years?
1) CDs
2) Magazines
3) Newspapers
