Fashionistas.

I am no salesperson.

And I am not one for soliciting humans.

But my sincerely talented fashionista friend, Ondrea, has started her own blog, and I am really excited about it!

Her clothing line is called Yellow Brick Cloth [clicky click], and I believe that everyone should peruse her spot and deeply consider clicking the "Follow" button that is located on the right hand side of the page. That is to say, if you have interest in reading about countless charming DIYs, viewing style must haves for the seasons, and ultimately becoming some of the first to witness her own clothing creations before she becomes super famous.

And as a bonus, she is a really cool girl with classic taste and a love for Jane Austen that may suprass my own [which until recently I wasn't sure was possible].

Shopping Therapy.

I think that I may be extremely behind the times in learning this, and if so I'm sorry. Our local mall, however, has implemented a new store into its facility called "Francesca's Collections." It's absolutely fabulous and may as well be called "Emmy's Ideal Closet" instead.

My friend and I went to check it out the other day, and I bought two tops and a dress.

The best way I could describe it is boutique clothing without the outrageous boutique prices. That is not to say that the clothing is cheap by any means, but the prices are not too steep either. After one trip I think that it is safe to say that I've already established it as my new go-to place in the mall.

What sealed the deal though, was the fact that the accessories table had a book of names placed atop of it, (one of those fortune telling books based on first names), and not a thick one mind you.

Guess which name it actually included!

I know this is such a small and minute incident, but you guys, this never happens to me!

I am usually forced to choose from "Emma" or "Emily" and tweak its significance or fortune to my liking.
Needless to say, the occurrence only heightened my overall excitement for my new find!

Graduation Dress!

I am not a seamstress by any stretch of the imagination, nor do I pretend to be.

I am, however, the queen of alterations.

My best friend actually gives me quite a hard time about it when we go shopping. There is the common logic that if you don't love it, then don't buy it. But I just can't help myself! If I see something that has potential, I need to buy it- then alter it, and thus, make it my own.

Like my graduation dress, for example. I bought the dress forever ago, and I've worn it once only to discover that the fit wasn't quite as flattering as it had looked in the store (story of my life, right?).

In the beginning, it was a run-of-the-mill strapless, floral dress with a singed waste and a matching, removable tie that belted at the singe.

Its pattern alone is actually what tempted me into buying it.

This morning I decided that I was determined to wear it to my graduation ceremony tomorrow, despite its flaws.

So what did I do?

I altered it, of course!

The process was simple, and the transformation is subtle. However, I think that it gives it a lot of flair (more than it had in the first place, that is).

First, I replaced the waste tie with a trendy belt. Then, i sewed the tie onto the top of the dress and transformed it into a halter strap, which created an entirely different look (and fit)!
I think that it might rank very close as one of the most ragtag sewing jobs ever, but hey, it works!

Now, just add some accessories here and there along with a pair of brown strappy sandals, and it's good to go!
