Don't Make ME a Target.

My blog has taken a turn.
What was once an outlet to practice my writing has transformed itself (with me to blame I suppose) into a form of personal expression- a type of internet journal in a sense. But then again, not really.

Obviously, there are distinct differences between this and a personal, tangible journal. I am very careful, for example, about what I post on the internet. One never knows who is reading. At times, certain details of my life are either sugar coated or left out completely. And that is fine with me.
My journals, on the other hand, contain my real life along with truth and deep emotions- it's a place where I attempt to make sense of the things (good or bad) that occur in my life.
"Vague" is not a word that exists in such a realm.
Therefore, if you think you've got me all figured out through this here blog then, well, you don't.

Thus, I have finally been able to pinpoint as to what I consider my blog. Rather than a journal, my blog has become, in a way, a type of time capsule. Years from now, I can return to this outlet and be reminded of the happenings that took place during the years 2010 and so forth. And that is very cool.
But I wonder, would I remember what I was like? Anecdotes about my personality during said time period?
For a while now I have been thinking about writing a really kick butt "About Me" post with the purpose of harboring my current state of being on this day in this month of this year. Needless to say, I have yet to get around to doing so.
That is why when I found this blog through a new follower, I became fairly excited.
"myleighashley" has a weekly theme called:

What a perfect way to finally delve into what I've been longing to do for such a time. Each week is a different 10 question survey that consists of a variety of inquiries- tidbits of information that I would have never thought to share about myself through my own "About Me" post.
I can't wait to come back to this some years from now and say aloud, "What on earth was I thinking?"
Here it goes (Week 1):
{one} who’s the funniest person you know?
Definitely my best friend, Lindsey. Her storytelling is truly an art and can leave even the most stoic of persons with stomach cramps from laughing so hard.

{two} were you a michael jackson fan?
I really loved the Jackson 5. It wasn't until after Michael died that I learned more of his later stuff aside, of course, from the typical tracks that ran along the lines of "Billie Jean" or "Thriller."

{three} what was your favorite book as a child?
I was in 6th grade when I started reading Harry Potter. Does that count as a child? Does the fact that I am STILL in love with the series at age 21 discredit the novels as being a childhood favorite?
As a wee lass, The Giving Tree was always one that I couldn't pass up. Loved it.

{four} what’s the most delicious meal you’ve ever eaten?
I really really really love food.
When I traveled to Spain I was introduced to "tortilla." It was a potato and egg dish, and I think that I could have eaten it everyday of the trip. I tried to recreate it afterward- no comment.

{five} if you could eliminate one thing you do each day in the bathroom so you never had to do it again, what would it be?
I loathe putting lotion on my legs. I ALWAYS pour too much into my hands and thus, spend an exceedingly long time rubbing it all in.

{six} if you could ask barak obama one question, what would it be?
How do you deal with all of the intense public scrutiny?

{seven} what’s the best place near you to get a drink?
What a perfect time to ask me this- AFTER I move away from Knoxville (to which my answer would have been Sassy Ann's!!). Currently, my place of employment (The Mellow Mushroom) would be the best. 30+ beers on draft in addition to countless bottles of beers that I guarantee you've never heard of.

{eight} what kind of music can you just not stand to listen to?
I cannot STAND country music. Well, recent country music that is.
In the words of my dad, "There is country (weak), and then there is COUNTRY (strong- as in timeless artists such as Johnny Cash, The Carter Family, Townes Van Zandt, Steve Earle and the like)."

{nine} who and when was your first kiss?
I was 15 before I got my first real kiss. I'm probably lame. Oh well.
It was with my first boyfriend, which turned into a 3 year off and on relationship.

{ten} what 3 things do you think will become obsolete in the next ten years?
1) CDs
2) Magazines
3) Newspapers

  7. I was totally just thinking the other day about making a ridiculously long, "about me" post as a sort of self discovery so that, with any luck, I can do the same thing a year from now and sort of appreciate all of the changes within myself/my blog/my life...you know?

  8. That's exactly how I feel about blogging!!! I even wrote it all down on my sidebar so I would never forget why and then decide to delete it or something tragically drastic like that. Hehe great minds think alike, eh?

  9. Aunt Cathy- That is very sad, especially since I am a journalism major. I've always wanted to work for a magazine, but lately I've been wondering if whether or not that is the best idea.

Anna- That is a great idea. If you end up doing that, let me know! I don't want to miss it!

Bri- I just checked, and you sure do! Haha, what a coincidence! I love the way you worded it in your sidebar, beautiful.
