I haven't been doing a swell job of blogging lately - I've blogged, but I haven't sincerely written enough to keep my loyal readers, namely my mother and aunt, updated with my life and personal current events.
So many changes are in the making that it is difficult to keep my head from spinning.

During my blurb about this year's Bonnaroo festivities I mentioned, but failed to elaborate, on the fact that my boyfriend received a job offer in Washington, DC. And he took it! So beginning on July 22nd, Eliot and I are packing our clothes and hand-me-down furnitures and are heading to the east coast to start a life [together].

Initially, after processing this news, my head was in knots because Eliot and I, up until this point, had been keeping a secret from the general public. The two of us were applying to an ESL (English as a Second Language) program in South Korea that would begin in August - not so much because we both have a sincere passion to teach, but because we wanted to go away somewhere and explore a new country, which I was greatly looking forward to. When I realized that this was no longer an option for us because of his new job, I was disappointed. I would feel silly for a time too when explaining my "dilemma" to close friends and family - a decision between an exciting job in DC or a temporary exciting job in South Korea? Really, who could possibly complain about such a conundrum?
After much internal deliberation, however, Washington, DC is clearly the better choice for numerous reasons, and I am happy to say that I could not be more excited about what is to come within the next few weeks, though there is much to be done.

And it hasn't quite hit me yet. I know that I am moving, I say it to myself and to others time and time again. But it is hard to wrap my head around the fact that I am not leaving for a semester. There is no guarantee that I can come home for weeks at a time over Christmas and summer vacation...that is, if this "summer vacation"concept still even exists.

Time is literally of the essence at this point.
My days as a Tennessean are coming to a close.

  1. My sweet niece Emmy: Thanks so much for the wonderful update...I am thrilled for you and Eliot. HUG... Actually remember my sweet girl, you were a LOUISIANIAN (is that even a word, haha) first but I know that TENNESSEE is in your heart...so just remember: you can take the girl/woman out of TENN/or LA but you can't take the "country state" out of the girl, no matter where you roam/wander/land. LOVE YOU SO MUCH and I AM SO PROUD AND HAPPY for you (and Eliot). HUG AGAIN FROM AUNT CATHY :-)
